REPROGRAMMING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR 2004-2008 F150
REPROGRAMMING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR 2004-2008 F150
The console in my F150 was flakey, so I purchased one from West Hills Gauges on Ebay. They had an FX4 cluster, so I bought that. It came out of truck with EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control) and mine was a manual. My truck is an XLT, so it was almost plug-n-play. The only problem was my A/C quit working.
To fix that problem, I purchased an OBDII reader , and then got the enhanced version of ForScan.
Next, I got my VIN and headed over to the Ford Service site and entered it there.
Look for the codes in the first ICM line (see below), and after connecting your OBDII reader to your vehicle, select the ICM option and enter those codes. There will only be one line you can enter, so it's a no brainer.
And , presto!, the A/C works!
You can do the same thing if your truck is EATC but the console came out of a manual temp control.
I have read that a simple ELM-327 OBDII reader will work, but I have not tried that. It's much cheaper than the one I bought.
Hope this helps!
